Commercial Flat Roofs

Unlike traditional sloped roofs, flat roofs have a low or minimal slope, allowing for a horizontal or nearly horizontal surface. These roofs are popular in commercial applications due to their cost-effectiveness, accessibility, and versatility in accommodating HVAC systems, solar panels, and other equipment.

Flat roofs are frequently subjected to harsh weather and heavy traffic, requiring roof replacement, roof repair, and other maintenance work. They’re especially susceptible to standing water, which is the reason it is important to install durable roof membranes and drains.

Replacement & Repair

Roof replacement is the best solution for a commercial flat roof that is damaged or worn-out. It can be accomplished by either removing the old roofing and replacing it with a new one, or by installing a new commercial roofing system over the current roof.

If your existing roof systems just need a little TLC, repairing it might be the best option. Typically, flat roofs are repaired by reinforcing the damaged area with a sturdy patching material.

Asphalt Shingles

Commercial roofs with asphalt shingles are built to last longer than flat roofs and don’t require frequent coatings. Because of this, a new commercial shingle roof installation is a wise long-term investment. Typically, their lifespan is 15-25 years, but it’s possible that your roof could last up to 40 years if properly maintained and installed. Learn more about commercial shingle roofs.

Be Careful of Leaks

However, asphalt shingles have a significant disadvantage: roof leaks. This is the reason it is critical to have a dependable roof coating that protects your shingles from moisture damage. If you don’t have one, a leak can cause significant water damage to the building and its contents. In addition, this damage can also be expensive to repair. Regular commercial roof inspections are important to keep your roof water tight.

Commercial Slate Roofs

Durable and beautiful, Slate is a natural stone that has been used in roofing for centuries. Unlike their predecessors, modern slate roof panels are modified to be lighter and more affordable, while still delivering the elegant look and long life that you would expect from a slate roof. Because of this, slate is especially appropriate for historical buildings.

Rugged Durability

Slate roofs are a great option for commercial buildings because they are extremely durable and can last a lifetime. The material has been shown to be resistant to fire, heat, and water damage, all of which can damage your building and cause costly repairs.

Commercial roof systems do differ from residential roofs. While they both share similar primary functions, they ensure the overall health of the building and offer protection from the elements for people within, at the same time, those two roofing systems have many dissimilarities.

Roofing systems used with commercial properties often cover extensive buildings. Commercial roofs are frequently flat or slightly sloped. Therefore, when choosing commercial flat roofs, you need to pay attention to factors that include external aspects (i.e., weather conditions) and roofing systems features (i.e., energy efficiency, durability).

On the market, numerous commercial roofing systems are available, each with various characteristics. You don’t have to spend long hours on the research, trying to guess which commercial roofing systems are appropriate for your facility, instead, consider asking an expert for advice.

Volpe Enterprise specialists have the experience in the roofing industry to readily recommend the optimal roofing system, whether you are seeking roof coatings for a new or existing building. Commercial Roofing Contractors – How To Make The Best Decision?

Choosing the best of many contractors available in the roofing industry may seem challenging, especially when undertaking a new enterprise. As a building owner or project manager, you want to select excellent components and find a professional company that delivers quality solutions on time and within a predefined budget.

Here are five things you need to consider if you are looking for a commercial roofing contractor:

  1. Company’s reputation. Check online opinions. Your contractor doesn’t have to receive glowing reviews exclusively, but they should be able to maintain a high average rating value. Check star ratings and read the opinions, it will tell you a lot about the overall business quality and if other customers are satisfied with the company’s services.
  2. Does the company meet the legal requirements? Before you make your choice on a roof system, ensure that your contractor fulfills legal prerequisites. Licensing and insurance coverage is as necessary as building materials!
  3. Experience and expertise. Although those components don’t warrant success, they can be an essential indicator that a company is efficient. In some cases, they may be a decisive factor in your choice of a commercial roofing contractor.
  4. Warranty and maintenance services. Check if there are benefits available for you after the job is finished. For example, using proper maintenance may extend the durability of your commercial roofing installation. Also, a warranty can ensure you are secure in case of unexpected events.
  5. Look for local companies. The benefit is clear. A local firm can visit a job site even before the project starts, communication is more fluid, and you can promptly discuss burning issues. In addition, local contractors are likely to know the weather within your area, which helps them choose suitable building materials.

Whether your efforts are dedicated to complex commercial metal roofing systems or your project is plain and simple, choosing the right contractor is always the first step toward successfully installing commercial roofing systems!

Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Does Gutter Installation Cost?

The total cost of this project is determined by a number of factors. These include the materials, accessories, and linear footage required for your gutter system. Some of the most popular materials for gutters include aluminum, steel, copper, and vinyl.

Aluminum Gutters
Most experts note that aluminum gutters are the best affordable option. Providing a unique blend of style and durability, they are an excellent choice for a new gutter installation. Able to withstand the elements and fit into most homeowners’ budgets, Volpe Enterprises recommends aluminum gutters for our clients.

Copper Gutters
Depending on your budget, copper gutters are also a fantastic alternative. While they are the most expensive option on the market, copper gutters add a dramatic and elegant look to any home. They also add to your home’s resale value. In addition, they are resistant to rust and hold up against the elements. With a long lifespan, you can be sure that copper gutters are an investment that will last a lifetime.

Steel Gutters
Steel gutters are priced between copper and aluminum gutters. Because of this, you can expect the quality of steel gutters to be in this range as well. They are sturdier and denser than aluminum but don’t hold up against the elements as well as copper. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that steel gutters are a bad choice. They’re a more reliable option than aluminum and can last decades with proper maintenance.

Gutter Guards
Gutter Guards are a great, cost efficient, way to boost the performance of your gutters. As a necessary component of a healthy and functional gutter system, Volpe Enterprises recommends the installation of Leaf Relief® gutter protection. This patented design is specially built to keep your gutters clean and protect your home from water damage.

So, What’s the Final Price?

Because the cost of a gutter installation depends on the material, linear footage, and accessories you choose, it’s hard to determine the final price. However, if you’re interested in getting a FREE estimate for your Gutter Installation Costs TODAY, give us a Call or Click. One of our knowledgeable representatives will be happy to help and answer any questions that you have.

How Often Should You Clean Your Gutters?

Cleaning and maintaining your gutters is important to protecting your home from water damage, ice, and pests. Most experts recommend cleaning your gutters at least twice a year, but this can vary depending on a number of factors. These include the foliage near your home, the amount of rain in your area, and any pest infestations.

Leaves and Other Debris
The accumulation of leaves and other debris will necessitate more frequent gutter cleaning. If you live in an area with pine trees, this is especially true. Pine needles are notorious for clumping and clogging gutters. This buildup can obstruct the flow of stormwater and redirect it to undesirable areas, causing damage to your yard and the foundation of your home. To be safe, you should have a gutter inspection every couple of months. If there’s a noticeable build up of debris, your gutters need to be cleaned.

Rain and Storms
Heavy rainfall combined with gutter debris can cause long-term damage to gutter systems. This is because water that pools in undesirable areas can seep into the structure of your home, resulting in permanent damage. To prevent this, check your gutters if you know that a big storm is coming. If there’s debris, give yourself time to remove it before the rain starts.

Pest Infestations
Collections of water and debris are a breeding ground for mosquitoes, carpenter ants, and other pests. If not properly addressed, these infestations can become more than just a nuisance. Over time, they can damage the structure of your home and cause unsightly decay.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Does Attic Insulation Cost?

The cost of attic insulation is determined by the attic’s size, how easy it is to access, and the type and quantity of insulation required. The easiest way to get an estimate is to call us and schedule an in-home quote.

What is the Best Attic Insulation Material?

The most common types of insulation are fiberglass, cellulose, and foam. Each has unique properties that make them different from the others.

However, the insulation contractors at Volpe Enterprises recommend choosing fiberglass.

As the most durable and cost-effective insulation solution, fiberglass provides comprehensive protection from fire and the elements.

How Much Insulation Do I Need in My Attic?

Yes – We are licensed with both the State (#PA4947) and Townships. We are also fully insured for workman’s compenAccording to Energy Star, the recommended level of insulation for most attics is R-38, or approximately 10 to 14 inches, depending on the type of insulation. However, this number is contingent on a variety of factors and most homes don’t meet this threshold. In fact, almost 90% of homes in the United States are under-insulated. This cause of this is often due to age, improper installation, or inefficient insulation materials.

For example, cellulose is one of the least efficient materials with a rating between R-3.2 and R-3.9 per inch. This means that you will probably need more insulation than if you used Fiberglass, which has a rating between R-3.2 and R-4.3. In addition, the climate in your area dramatically influences the amount of insulation you’ll need.

Need help? We have your back

If you’re unsure of which insulation is in your attic, its r value, or what any of this even means, we can help. The certified insulation contractors at Volpe Enterprises have over 50 years of experience insulating homes in the Greater Philadelphia region. So, if you have any questions, feel free to give us a Call or Click. One of our knowledgeable experts would be happy to speak to you and schedule a FREE inspection for your attic today!sation, liability, and property damage. Per your request, we will provide a certificate of insurance before the start of your job.

What Is the Best Attic Insulation?

The best Attic Insulation material is determined by your budget, home, and location. Some materials, however, are more efficient than others. The efficiency of the material, as determined by a rating known as an R-Value, determines how many layers of it you will require.

Insulation for Cold Climates

If you live in a cold weather climate, the best attic insulation is going to be one that’s hyper efficient and has a higher r value. For this, the best option is rigid foam or panel installation. Rigid foam is one of the most energy efficient products on the market today, and it is also one of the easiest to install. However, it comes with a caveat: it is only an effective solution if it can be cut to fit exactly where you need insulation.Because of this, Volpe Enterprises recommends the use of blown-in fiberglass. It is a versatile material that can be compacted to fit into any nook between your walls and in your attic. Blown in fiberglass can also be used as ceiling insulation, is non-combustible, and has a relatively high r value.Unlike other loose insulation, like blown in cellulose insulation, loose fill fiberglass is also resistant to water absorption. This is especially important in colder climates where snow can linger, build up, and seep into your attic and walls. If you have insulation that is not weatherproof, it may render useless when wet. On top of this, your property will be susceptible to costly damage and expensive repairs.

Insulation for Warm Climates

If you live in a hot climate, you know that nothing beats the convenience of a cool, air-conditioned home. However, keeping your home cool can dramatically increase the cost of your energy bill. You can avoid this, though. To keep your house cool while saving money on utilities, you need to install efficient insulation. This should prevent air leaks, increase energy efficiency, and maintain the temperature inside of your home. With this in mind, Volpe Enterprises recommends using blown-in fiberglass insulation. While it is also popular in cold climates, fiberglass is an excellent choice for those who live in warm areas. One major reason for this is that it is fire retardant, lowering the risk of damage to your home from wildfires or other blazes. Fiberglass also doesn’t settle once it is installed and maintains its original shape and size. As a result, it is an extremely durable insulation material that will retain its r value for many years.
