Front Door Replacement

Front Door Replacement Done Right the First Time

A front door does more than welcome guests. It keeps out weather, protects your family, and sets the tone for your whole home. When your entry door starts to leak, stick, or look tired, Volpe Enterprises, Inc. provides complete front door replacement for homes throughout Southeastern PA.

When should you replace your front door?

Replace your front door when repairs no longer fix the problem or the door no longer protects your home. Look for these signs:

  • Drafts, light, or water coming in around the frame
  • A door that sticks, drags, or will not latch without force
  • Rot, soft spots, or swelling at the bottom of the door or frame
  • Cracks, dents, or peeling finish that keeps coming back
  • Outdated or weak locks
  • Rising energy bills or a cold foyer in winter

Our front door replacement process

  1. Free in-home estimate: we inspect the door, frame, sill, and surrounding wall, then talk through your goals.
  2. Precise measuring: we measure the rough opening so the new door fits square and tight.
  3. Product selection: you choose material, style, glass, color, and hardware with guidance from our team.
  4. Removal: we carefully remove the old door and frame and check for hidden water damage.
  5. Repairs and prep: any rotted subfloor, framing, or sheathing is repaired before installation.
  6. Installation: the new door is set plumb, level, and square, then insulated and flashed against water.
  7. Trim and finish: interior casing and exterior trim are finished to match your home.
  8. Final walkthrough: we test operation and locks and review care instructions with you.

How long does front door replacement take?

Most front door replacements are completed in one day. Entries with sidelites, transoms, or hidden frame damage may take a little longer, and we will let you know during your estimate.

Full frame vs. slab replacement

Slab replacement swaps only the door panel and keeps the existing frame. It works when the frame is solid and square, but it rarely fixes drafts or water problems.

Full frame (prehung) replacement replaces the door, frame, and sill together. It is the best choice when the frame is damaged, the door leaks, or you want better energy efficiency. Most Volpe front door replacements are full frame installations.

Why installation quality matters

Even the best door will leak, stick, or let in air if it is not installed correctly. Our installers focus on proper flashing, sill pan protection, insulation, and alignment. Because Volpe also installs siding, trim, and windows, we can repair or replace the exterior finishes around your new door so everything looks seamless.

Front door replacement FAQ

Can you replace a front door in winter? Yes. We work efficiently to keep the opening closed for as short a time as possible and protect your home from cold air during the swap.

Will my new front door be the same size as the old one? Usually, yes. We can also resize openings or add sidelites and transoms if you want a larger, brighter entry.

Does replacing a front door add value? A new front door is one of the most popular exterior upgrades for curb appeal, and it creates a strong first impression when it is time to sell.

Do I need to be home during installation? We ask that someone be available at the start and end of the day to review the work and test the new door.
